Mövenpick heads for Pattaya

Swiss based Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts have announced plans to expand their profile with another up-market project in Pattaya, the company's second project in Thailand.
The exclusive development is set to comprise of 300 luxury rooms and suites, as well as spa facilities, restaurants, and entertainment areas, all located on a pleasant stretch of Pattaya's popular beachfront. The architectural design will ensure that each room will have unobstructed view of the sea.
The project is the undertaking of Apex Development Public Company who are aiming towards futuristic tourism in the Pattaya area. "We are very much looking forward to the partnership with Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts", says Pong Phan Sampawakoop, Chairman of Apex. "With its resort in Phuket, the Swiss hotel group has demonstrated that Mövenpick Hotel and Resorts' philosophy is very well received in Thailand."
The project will be part of a larger development which will incorporate a condominium block comprising of 42 floors housing 147 units in one tower and 45 floors with 156 units in another, as well as a 3-storey building with 240 units.
Guests will be able to enjoy many of the five star facilities, including the extensive spa and wellness centre, swimming pools, tennis courts, water sports and a kid's club on site. There is a 27-hole golf course only 5 minutes drive away, and state-of- the-art facilities aimed towards the needs of business travellers.
"Pattaya is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Thailand and is currently investing heavily in its infrastructure in order to firmly position itself as a leading tourist destination, explained Jean Gabriel Peres, President and CEO of Mövenpick Hotel and Resorts. "We are proud of the fact that as of 2010 we will be represented in Pattaya, and strongly believe that with Apex, we have found the right partner for this unique 5 star project."
Construction of the new resort is set to begin in January 2008 and should be completed by December 2010
