Thai tourism to rise in ’08

Thailand's 2007 foreign visitor numbers hit over 14
million; a figure just short of that set by the Tourism
Authority of Thailand (TAT). However, senior figures in
the tourism industry are predicting further improvements
in 2008.
Anek Srishevachart, president of the Thai Travel Agents
Association, identified Russia as a key growth area which
largely countered a relative drop in visitor numbers from
Japan and China.
"The tourism business outlook for 2008 was showing
positive signs after the December 23 general election and
the number of tourists visiting Thailand would definitely
increase if the general situation in the country was
normal", said Srishevachart.
